Vera’s Nursery is a leading provider of high-quality plants, serving various markets through retail storefronts and distribution partners. We are looking for a creative and data-driven Marketing & Category Management Specialist to join our team. This role will support our sales team by enhancing marketing efforts through compelling visuals, competitive analysis, and innovative product development.

Job Summary:

The Marketing & Category Management Specialist will play a key role in bridging the gap between sales, marketing, and product development. This individual will be responsible for capturing and editing product images, designing promotional materials, developing new plant pot concepts, and driving category growth through market research and data analysis. They will also work closely with suppliers, sales teams, and merchandising partners to bring new ideas to the market and enhance our brand presence.

Key Responsibilities:Marketing & Visual Content Creation:
  • Take high-quality photos of plants and products for marketing materials.
  • Edit images, including background removal, to create professional product visuals.
  • Design banners, flyers, and promotional content for digital and print advertisements.
  • Develop engaging in-store displays and packaging concepts to enhance product appeal.
Category Management & Product Development:
  • Work with pot suppliers and the sales team to create new product lines and packaging.
  • Research industry trends to develop innovative plant and pot combinations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to bring new program ideas to market.
  • Monitor and analyze product performance to drive sales and profitability.
Market Research & Competitive Analysis:
  • Conduct store visits to distribution partners, capturing photos and gathering insights on competitor displays and offerings.
  • Collect and analyze market data to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Present market research findings and new product ideas to sales leadership and customers.
Sales & Customer Collaboration:
  • Act as a liaison between pot designers, sales teams, and production to coordinate new product orders.
  • Develop and present product design ideas to existing and potential customers.
  • Create professional presentations for internal meetings, customer pitches, and trade shows.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Graphic Design, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: 2+ years in marketing, category management, or product development, preferably in retail, horticulture, or consumer goods.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Photoshop, Canva, or other graphic design tools.
    • Strong photography and image editing skills.
    • Experience with market research and competitor analysis tools.
    • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel for data analysis and presentations.
  • Other Skills:
    • Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to marketing.
    • Creativity and an eye for design.
    • Ability to travel to distribution stores as needed.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
