Job Summary

The Harbert College of Business Office of Communications and Marketing seeks to hire a communications and marketing specialist to advance branding and communications initiatives in the Harbert College. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to enhance programmatic and national brand strategies within the college. Applicants must have a command of both strategic and tactical communications and marketing approaches, as well as talent for effective storytelling to further the college's brand development goals.





Essential Functions

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:


  • Develop marketing and communication plans to promote the vision, mission, goals, and achievements of the Harbert College of Business.

  • Researches, designs and composes content for dissemination through a variety of mediums, such as internal or external publications, brochures, newsletters, websites, presentations, development/fundraising materials, press packages, or broadcast media.

  • Write scripts for videos and in-person events, etc.

  • Collaborate with a graphic designer and producer/director to create materials.

  • Coordinates materials production to include content/style editing, designing, printing, photography and/or copywriting.

  • Coordinates marketing and communication calendars, production schedules and deadlines, including coordination of work carried out by external vendors.








Minimum Qualifications





Minimum Qualifications

Level II: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field and a minimum of 2 years experience in marketing and communication services to include print journalism.
Level III: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field and a minimum of 4 years experience in marketing and communication services to include print journalism.
Substitution allowed for experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.








Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications





Minimum Skills and Abilities

The candidate is expected to be fluent in AP Style for both digital and print platforms, from the generation of content to the coordination of layout and production with graphic artists and web designers.
Applicants should also be able to demonstrate knowledge of public relations, communications, and graphic design principles; audience segmentation; social media management; communications and marketing planning, execution, and evaluation.
