Special Education/Content Area Teacher - Virtual Learning Academy - 2 Positions

10-month position - 2 Positions

Commencing September 2025

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Seeking dual-certified 9-12 special education and content (Biology, Social Studies, Math) teachers to provide instruction and support students enrolled in the BT BOCES Virtual Learning Academy. Key responsibilities include:

• Teach courses in their certified area for VLA students

• Provide support to the VLA Special Education program

• Design, facilitate, implement, and monitor the progress of IEP goals as needed

• Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and methods, including differentiation, to meet diverse student needs

• Structure the student environment to provide a supportive virtual educational setting that maximizes student potential

• Ongoing collaboration with the Student Success Team, and other teachers working with the students

• Support students to achieve high expectations

• Accurately complete all paperwork related to provided services in a timely manner as mandated by NYS and school policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• NYS Certification as a Special Education Teacher: SWD 7-12 Generalist or SWD All Grades AND

• NYS Certification in Biology, Social Studies or Math

• Strong collaboration skills

• A commitment to meeting the needs of every student

• A strong belief that all students can succeed

• Strong use of instructional technology to meet student needs

• Experience in virtual teaching preferred
