Walnut Hill School for the Arts seeks a part-time faculty member to join the Music Department to teach hourly private composition lessons during the school year starting in February 2025. This is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Music.

The Walnut Hill Music Department educates dedicated young musicians in a creative community that believes in the power of music as a force for good in the world. Our unique partnership with the New England Conservatory engages our students in a comprehensive music curriculum delivered at both schools. We value artistic excellence and prepare our graduates to thrive in a conservatory, university, or college setting. The five programs of the Music Department include Orchestral Instruments, Piano, Voice, Composition, and Jazz and Contemporary Musical Arts.

Compensation: $66.95 per hour

Responsibilities:

Teaching Duties:

• Teach weekly private music composition lessons to both Composition Majors and Non-Majors during the school year.
• Enrollment varies by semester depending on the needs of the Music Department.
• Lessons are taught on campus at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, MA.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition preferred; Master’s degree recommended.
• Comfort with technology and willingness to adopt new technologies as needed; strong computer skills and proficiency in Google Suite required.
