Description
The targeted salary range for this position is $3500 - $3750 per month. Final salary offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience while considering internal equity and budget constraints.
Intercollegiate Athletics, at Southern Illinois University, welcomes applications for an Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing. This position will develop, coordinate, and administer game presentation and in-game promotions including video boards. Development of sports specific and department wide marketing plans, conceive and design posters and other marketing materials, design and place advertisements, increase student participation and effectively promote ticket sales. Examples of Duties • Direct the efforts of the marketing and promotions sales staff to maximize externally generated revenue. • Manage all promotions and marketing aspects of athletic events including pre-event planning, set-up and event execution and post event review and analysis. • Manage departmental marketing and promotions budgets to maximize efficiency and effectiveness for the use of expended resources. • Conceive, develop and implement marketing plans that will Increase paid and student attendance at all athletic events. • Monitor all marketing and sponsorship activities to ensure compliance with applicable University, Missouri Valley Conference and NCAA policies, guidelines, rules and regulations. • Conceive, develop and administer event promotions to include in-game promotions and special events. • Design and place print advertisements promoting attendance at athletic events. • Assist in the development and approval of the final production of radio and television advertisements promoting attendance at athletic events. • Direct the efforts of the athletic spirit groups to maximize positive exposure for the department and University.
Position does require attendance at outdoor sporting events (at times in inclement weather) and will require significant public speaking, sales and customer service, issue resolution, contract negotiation, and fundraising.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations or a related field. Three (3) years (36 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area. Based on position requirements, additional education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required. Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience. Supplemental Information

Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
