Role: Copy Supervisor – HCP + DTC
The Copy Supervisor (CS) is key in helping craft a comprehensive Healthcare Professional copy platform for assigned accounts. The CS executes the copy for certain projects, mentors and supervises more junior writers, and acts as a master brand product information specialist, approaching Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) review with forethought. CS reports to the Associate Creative Director (ACD) or Creative Director (CD).

Creative Role & Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrates high level of professional craftsmanship and superior writing skills.
  2. Able to bring originality and innovative thinking while being consistent with brand messaging.
  3. Familiar with medical and scientific information that pertains to assigned brands.
  4. Understands how to research and source credible information, using it to craft copy that delivers on strategy.
  5. Partners with assigned Art Director or ACD to develop impactful creative concepts.
  6. Has confident presentation skills and can discuss the meaning behind concepts.
  7. Able to set priorities while handling multiple projects and delegate work appropriately.
  8. Establish thorough knowledge of client's business.
  9. Contributes to new business activities.
  10. Maintains awareness of important trends in the Healthcare Arena and disseminates pertinent information to the team and extended creative staff.
  11. Continues to learn, is open to feedback, and willing to explore further if necessary.
  12. Supports planning and strategy in the development of creative or project briefs.
  13. Supports the evolution of brand personality and positioning.
  14. Contributes to the daily execution of the workload.
  15. Upholds process for manuscript management and ensures direct reports follow the process.
  16. Participates in day-to-day efforts on a pitch team and attends pitches.
  17. Participates in brand planning meetings with Client.
  18. May be assigned to more than one account.

Required Skills

  1. Writes clear, cohesive, scientific copy for multiple channels (print, digital, broadcast, etc.).
  2. Able to unravel complex data to create a clear and compelling narrative.
  3. Clear presenter with an educational edge.
  4. Ability to oversee others executing multiple projects and independently manage complex projects assigned.
  5. Exhibits decisive problem-solving skills and has advanced listening and coping skills to remain clear-headed.
  6. Understands how to use and apply medical references and validate with Medical Editor partner ahead of MLR submissions.
  7. Knows AMA style.
  8. Actively maintains an understanding of how work moves through the agency and follows relevant agency Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  9. Understands the principles of production (print, online, broadcast, etc.).
  10. With an art partner, is able to run print and video shoots.

Relationships/Supervisory Role

  1. Viewed as a key part of the core team and becomes a trusted partner to Account, Strategy, and Project Management counterparts.
  2. Collaboratively works with assigned partners.
  3. Supervises and engages team/freelancers.
  4. Responsible for training, reviewing, and mentoring direct reports.
  5. Valued by day-to-day and lead clients.
