The City of Yankton is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Communication Dispatcher in the 911 Center. This is a public service position, helping people when they need it most. Enjoy working with new technology while keeping up with an exciting work environment.
This position requires the ability to operate a computer and applicable software. The ability to multi-task and communicate information over the radio and phone effectively and immediately is a must. This position is responsible for communications with all emergency service entities.
This position is regular full-time shift work (which includes holidays and weekends) and requires a high school diploma or GED and one-year general clerical experience. The starting salary for this position is $50,746 per year, plus benefits. The City of Yankton participates in the required State Retirement plan and matches the six percent (6%) employee contribution deduction. The City will provide a bi-weekly accrued amount up to two weeks of vacation (80 hours) per year and additional vacation thereafter based on years of service cumulatively from the 80-hour base. The City provides sick leave at a rate of 8 hours per month for a full-time employee which can be accumulated to 960 hours. The City has 10 paid (8 hours) holidays and four personal days to be used at any time throughout the year, pending supervisor approval.
