The U.S./Anglo Division is offering an opportunity for a qualified individual at the GS-5 level (with one year time-in-grade) to serve on a full-time, 120-day temporary promotion to the GS-6 level, OR a qualified individual at the GS-6 level (no promotion) to serve on a full-time, 120-day detail as Library Technician, U.S./Anglo Division.

Reporting to the Chief of USAN, this position is responsible for the movement of collection materials into and out of the division, providing labeling support for the sections, as well as creating Initial Bibliographic Control Records (IBCs), checking in serials and arranging and sorting gift receipts. The successful candidate will gain excellent work experience in managing physical workflows and providing fundamental inventory control services.

Responsibilities:

  • Routing materials out of the division to the appropriate custodial or preservation locations
  • Collecting material within the remit of the division from other units within the directorate
  • Creating IBC records
  • Checking in serial issues
  • Routing, sorting and arranging the routine gifts received by the division

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to permanent staff of the Library Collections & Services Group who have permission from their supervisor.

Work Schedule: The potential for telework is not an option. Monday – Friday (limited flextime)
