The International Center of Photography (ICP) is the world's leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. Through our exhibitions, education, public programs, and community outreach, we offer an open forum for dialogue about the power of the image. Since our founding in 1974, we have presented more than 700 exhibitions and offered thousands of classes, providing instruction at every level. Our new integrated center on the Lower East Side reunites our school and museum in one space to become the cultural anchor of Essex Crossing.

Position Summary:

The Graphic Designer supports in preparing and designing creative materials across all deaprtments at ICP. This position is responsible for supporting in the design process for a range of marketing materials, including brochures; event programs; invitations; posters; and print, outdoor, and online advertising. The Graphic Designer will work closely with staff in the Marketing and Communications Department and collaborate with colleagues throughout ICP. Successful candidates will possess a thorough understanding of brand and identity guidelines, budgeting, print and production standards, project management, and visual communications.

Essential Functions and Duties:

Graphic Design

- Create and implement design for integrated marketing campaigns that include print, advertising, web, email, and social components

- Support with the design of environmental graphics for galleries and school, including signs, wall texts, and object labels

- Support with the design of print and online projects including email templates, letters, brochures, flyers, signs, postcards, and event collateral

- Partner with other marketing and communications team members to maintain brand by ensuring consistent use of identity guidelines

- Articulate design ideas to internal shop teams and cultivate collaborative relationships on projects

- Other duties as assigned

Project Management

- Manage design aspect of projects from concept through completion, working with the marketing team to meet deadlines and budgets

- Expedites and troubleshoot all project-related issues needing immediate attention, including elevating issues to other staff members as necessary

- Create presentations and other review materials as needed

- Coordinate with other graphic designers, 3D designers, editorial, media and vendors as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in graphic or visual communication design preferred, but not required

Minimum of two years of design experience, including print and digital design and production

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and HTML

Demonstrated project management skills with ability to handle multiple projects, from concept to completion

Proactive, collaborative working style

Knowledge of and strong interest in photography and museums a plus

Salary Description

$35 to $52 per hour
