Job Description
- Engineering and Testing: Lead engineering and testing activities to support the development of mixed technology harnesses, including fiber optic, twisted pair, power, and coaxial connections.
- Design Process: Follow a methodical approach to design that includes understanding customer requirements, employing scientific methods (test-driven, data collection, and repeatability), and delivering timely project completion.
- Customer Focus: Plan and execute design tasks efficiently to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Production Support: Work with production teams to troubleshoot and improve multi-channel product manufacturing. Responsibilities include process development, tooling improvements, and documentation.
- Design Documentation: Create 3D models, engineering drawings, and work instructions to support assembly processes.
- Test Reports & Feedback: Produce test reports and collaborate with operators during prototype and first-build phases to ensure designs are manufacturable and functional.
- Continuous Improvement: Apply feedback from operators and assembly teams to refine designs and improve product quality and assembly processes.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred, but other disciplines will be considered).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with fiber optics, including design and testing of fiber optic connectors.
- Proficiency in creating 3D models and assemblies using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or similar).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience designing small component assemblies is a plus.
- Knowledge of materials, finishes, and fabrication techniques used in small-parts manufacturing is desirable.
- Familiarity with production processes in a small-parts assembly environment is advantageous.
- A background in RF or Microwave engineering is not required but would be beneficial.
- U.S. Person status required (U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents).
- Base salary $85,000 - $100,000 depending on level of experience
- Discretionary annual bonus incentive based on company performance
- 2 weeks PTO + 1 week sick/personal time
