We are seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join an exceptional school district in Knox County, IL for the 2025-2026 school year.

In this role, you will work with students who are blind or visually impaired, providing specialized instruction and support tailored to their individual needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Teaching students strategies for accessing the curriculum, including braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Conducting assessments to track students' progress and adjusting instruction as needed.
  • Providing support for social and emotional well-being, and promoting independence in daily activities.
  • Ensuring students are equipped with skills for self-advocacy and independence.

Location: In-person (no hybrid or remote options)

School Schedule: 8:00am-3:30pm

Guaranteed Hours: 3 hours per week

Grade levels: K-12

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or related field.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Visual Impairment (TVI) endorsement.
  • Experience with braille and assistive technologies for visually impaired students.
  • A passion for empowering visually impaired students and fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth.
