Position Overview
We are looking for a design & architecture fanatic for our Chicago office to plan, organize, and collaborate on the design development of multiple projects and drive interior architecture-related initiatives, from feasibility and concept through strategy and execution. They will be focused on preliminary programming studies as well as creating conceptual and schematic design sets for hand-off to the project Interior Designer of Record for execution and coordination. They will work directly with architecture and multi-disciplinary teams, both internally and externally, on everything from interior and exterior amenity planning to unit plans and consultant coordination. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of the development lifecycle and a knack for organization and processes as well as proficient technical skills and dedication to the details. The most critical requirements are a passion for what they do and a desire to learn, teach, grow, and make meaningful contributions.
They will be the lynchpin of Core’s internal interior design capabilities, collaborating with others to uncover new opportunities and deliver actionable direction. They need to have a curious mind paired with a highly developed technical understanding of interiors, allowing them to think big but execute at any scale. They will lead intelligently, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively, but always balance business needs with innovative thinking.
What You Will Do
Develop and manage interior architectural processes to ensure project efficiency and completion
Define, document, and manage corporate interior standards, details, and best practices
Be instrumental in the design development of multiple ground-up real estate projects per year - from start to finish
Gain an intimate understanding of the real estate development industry
Have a notable and tangible effect on the built environment, across multiple asset types and cities around the country
Collaborate on exterior and interior architecture, space planning and implementation
Work directly with the Creative Director to draw and model conceptual interior design and come up with multiple design iterations
Ensure specifications are met, standards are adhered to, drawings are completed, and questions are answered
Develop, design, and prototype new ideas, innovations, initiatives, and special projects
Occasional travel may be necessary as needed
Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
Must be able to complete all physical requirements of this role with or without a reasonable accommodation

Ideally, you'll have
10+ years of interior architecture experience in Multi-family or Student Housing development design support
Proficiency in SketchUp, Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other CAD and 3D modeling software
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
Expert knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes
Strong business acumen, phenomenal people skills, and a deep understanding of the traditional functions of the architect

Base Salary:
$80,000 - $120,000 annually. Final salary within this range will depend on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
Additional Compensation:
Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, typically ranging between 10-20% of base salary annually, depending on individual and organizational performance.
