Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY The University Catalog Editor and Curriculum Analyst is responsible for the development, management, and publication of the Undergraduate Catalog; for analyzing curriculum proposals to develop implementation methods; and for coordinating offices university wide to maintain all details regarding official academic programs offered by Ohio University. This position has functional oversight of the online catalog content management system (including leading other offices who use the software) and utilizes a diverse set of software systems, database integrations, and technical operations designed to streamline and optimize production of engaging catalog content. Serves as a leader within enrollment management on the status of program approvals, their associated data, and interpretation of change impact. Provides functional analyst support to curriculum management and reporting tools. The incumbent is responsible for identifying opportunities to leverage current and new technologies, including reporting and data analysis, for the greatest effectiveness in catalog and curriculum analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Catalog Editing and Production - Responsible for the development, maintenance, and publication of the annual Undergraduate Catalog, which involves proactive outreach and collaboration with most offices at all campuses. Responsible for all facets of the academic catalog, including content, style, usability, effectiveness, and data integration. Oversees the annual update process with university stakeholders in order to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data and information within the catalog. Administers the content management system, which is used to publish the undergraduate catalog as well as the graduate and Heritage College of Medicine catalogs, making decisions on access approval and configuration settings. Reviews curricular approvals, policy changes, and other university updates, in order to prepare draft content recommendations to review in the proofing phases of a catalog review cycle, and publishes the catalog for use by faculty, staff, students (current, former, and prospective) as well as external entities, such as the Higher Learning Commission, other accrediting bodies, the Department of Education, the Department of Veterans Affairs, etc. Maintains current documentation on the catalog production process.

2. Supports appropriate technology for an online catalog and other curriculum management tools. Utilizes a diverse set of software systems, database integrations, and technical operations designed to streamline and optimize production of engaging catalog content. Represents enrollment management and other offices in conversations between software vendors and the University's IT department, assessing impact to determine the appropriate groups to engage for problem-solving, testing and software upgrades and making recommendations toward improvement. Supports ongoing maintenance of technological platforms that will link course content, assessing any need for change, making recommendations for change, and leading the implementation. Manages assigned projects in response to the ever-changing needs of the campus community. Provides training for the catalog publishing system to other users who update catalog content.

3. Analyzes and assess curriculum proposal updates and provides feedback to the University Curriculum Council Programs Committee on the impact and feasibility of proposed changes and timelines, relative to catalog maintenance, applications for admission, and other systems and processes. Implements the University Curriculum Council approvals related to academic programs. Must collaborate with academic units to understand the intent of curriculum proposals and use this information to share within the office and division to develop implementation plans for catalog, degree audit, admissions applications, student records, etc. Serves as liaison to the University Curriculum Council for support of new programs and making updates in curriculum management software, including collaborating with the provost's office, graduate college, and others in post-UCC planning to assess the needs for additional state, federal, or other external approval, such as HLC, ODHE, and the Department of Education. Collaborates with the degree audit staff to ensure consistency in program changes such that the catalog and DARS are in agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree by start date.

Minimum of 3 years of work-related experience required to effectively perform the position's responsibilities.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Higher education experience is preferred. Understanding of curriculum is preferred. Modern Campus or other catalog and curriculum management software experience preferred. DIGARC or other catalog software experience preferred.
