Position Overview:
The Social Media Manager for American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) will play a key role in crafting the voice and enhancing the brand of Magen David Adom in the U.S. through compelling digital content. This is a hands-on role within the national Marketing Team, responsible for managing AFMDA’s social media platforms daily. The position involves creating content, analyzing data, preparing reports with actionable insights, creating toolkits and templates, fostering online community engagement, and design and maintenance of the social media calendar. The position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead all social media efforts, including updating all existing platforms, implementing new social media channels, and tracking and analyzing statistics to measure success.
- Develop and execute social media strategies for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.
- Manage a robust editorial calendar for social media in coordination with the marcom, development and Israel teams.
- Execute the video content strategy including creating and editing high-quality video content and optimizing videos for maximum reach and engagement.
- Liaise with colleagues to source content and assets, as well as to ensure that all posts are on-brand and comply with organizational values.
- Propose and leverage collaboration with influencers and other organizations on social media to expand content reach.
- Develop social-first marketing campaigns to attract new followers and engage existing community members.
- Implement and manage social media fundraising campaigns.
- Support social media needs for myriad public events on- and off-site.
- Stay up-to-date with current social media trends, technologies and algorithm updates.
- Explore expansion to new social channels to reach new audiences.
- Develop, manage and evaluate performance metrics, providing regular reports to inform strategy.
- Manage paid social media advertising initiatives.
- Support broader marketing and communications projects as assigned; assist with email campaigns, website updates, and other digital initiatives as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, with a strong focus on social media management.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge and understanding of the social media landscape relevant to AFMDA, including the American Jewish community and pro-Israel audiences.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant current events, Jewish holidays and observations relevant to the American Jewish community and pro-Israel audiences.
- Ability to create platform-optimized videos using video editing software.
- Proficiency with design and content creation tools such as Canva.
- Expertise in copywriting for social media.
- Proven experience running paid ad campaigns on different social platforms.
- Expertise in using community management tools.
- In-depth knowledge of social media analytics, audience targeting, and best practices.
- Adept at thriving in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative, flexible approach.
- Flexibility in scheduling.
- Ability to be present in the NYC Office 2-3 times a week.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $85,000–$110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is hybrid remote/in-person at AFMDA’s New York City office, currently with two days per week expected in the office.
