Technical Director – Music, Theatre, and Dance

Grand Valley State University seeks a Technical Director, full-time, 12-month to provide technical, budgetary, and logistical support for productions and related operations across the Music, Theatre, and Dance department starting May 2025. The successful candidate will supervise the operation of the Louis Armstrong Theatre, Lynn Maxwell Keller Black Box Theatre, dance studios, and Sherman Van Solkema Recital Hall.

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree and working knowledge of:

1. Theatre and scene shop safety practices
2. Scenic construction techniques and best practices
3. Familiarity with a wide range of industrial tools, equipment, lighting, and computer systems appropriate to theatre
