Job Description

OK Catalyst, headquartered at the Price College of Business Tom Love Innovation Hub, is seeking an ambitious, talented social media marketer. OK Catalyst works with university researchers, entrepreneurs, and startups, helping them secure early-stage seed funding to further their R&D efforts and launch innovative technologies.

OK Catalyst is funded in part by the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) and by the Small Business Administration. This is a one-year grant-funded position with the possibility for annual renewal.

As a Social Media Marketer for OK Catalyst, you will be responsible for creating visual concepts, using various digital platforms to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate potential clients (e.g., researchers, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, small businesses). You will also be responsible for helping implement our outreach strategies through our LinkedIn platform, helping design presentation graphics, and advertising materials for conferences and other ecosystem events.

Essential Duties:

  • Skilled in graphic design platforms and websites such as Canva and Wix.
  • Experienced in social media and website algorithms, analytics, and strategies.
  • Strong communication skills both visual and written.
  • Ability to write and edit copy.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects, often with shifting priorities and requiring collaboration across many departments.
  • Ability to work independently with modest supervision.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current 2025 Spring Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Must attach 2025 Spring class schedule.

Skills:

  • Creativity in composing or presenting oral and written communication; proficient in spreadsheet and word processing applications; highly organized.
  • Demonstrates curiosity, creativity, drive for excellence, and attention to detail.
  • Possess confidence, patience, and flexibility in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Highly receptive to feedback and coaching.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, with a strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Regular pressure to meet productivity standards; frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods; may be required to travel; requires contact with other departments and university officials; may be required to lift, bend, stoop, and carry.

Department Preferences:

  • Enrollment in an OU degree program in the following areas preferred: Visual Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, and/or Entrepreneurship.
  • Experience in Canva or similar platform; strategic communications and marketing.
