Chief Communications Officer, ZNA 121887 Zurich North America is seeking a strategic and dynamic Chief Communications Officer to lead our Communications team. This pivotal role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, will be based in our Schaumburg, IL Headquarters. The Chief Communications Officer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring Zurich North America’s communication strategies across all business segments. This role entails crafting comprehensive communication programs and ensuring that all media campaigns are executed consistently, effectively, on-brand, and in compliance with regulatory standards. They must also be able to measure outcomes and impacts of communication strategy. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in communications, public relations, and/or media, preferably within the Insurance Industry. This critical position demands strong skills in stakeholder management and influence. We are in search of a leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, strategic orientation, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate a complex organization while maintaining robust working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Key accountabilities: Develop and implement a clear communication strategy, policy, and messaging to engage both internal and external stakeholders. Translate the strategy into actionable plans with key deliverables. Lead the maintenance of the organization’s communication guidelines, ensuring consistent application across all areas. Collaborate with business leaders to identify growth opportunities and objectives, prioritizing communication needs and requirements. Work with global Zurich teams to share knowledge, create synergies, achieve economies of scale, and promote One Zurich strategies and messaging. Engage customer audiences to influence retention and improve the hit ratio. Build and maintain stakeholder relationships with a focus on profitability and business growth. Provide project management, problem analysis, and recommendations for various communication challenges identified by the team or management. Develop and oversee the strategy for external agency relationships, including advertising, media buying, and digital. Foster a consistent and aligned approach through effective partnerships with segments/functions in relevant areas. Establish communication development objectives and measurement systems, ensuring brand investments are tracked and evaluated. Ensure adherence to proper processes and administrative measures, including proposals, plan approvals, external agency briefs, and statements of work. Lead a team that develops and executes the internal and external communication strategy. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Communications or Marketing or Media Relations or Public Relations area 8 years of people management experience Experience managing stakeholders Knowledge of the Insurance Industry Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in leading and driving end-to-end internal and external communication strategy and processes, from conception through implementation. Strong understanding of the Insurance Industry Successful track record working in large complex organizations. Proven ability to enhance brand visibility and reputation, generating positive coverage and a favorable image for the organization. Ability to quickly identify target audiences and craft the right message through appropriate communication channels, while maintaining consistency in direction and messaging. Exceptional written, communication, and presentation skills; articulate, clear, and concise in conveying thoughts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions. Influential executive presence with the capability to engage both internal and external stakeholders effectively. MBA or advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Media Relations. At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. In compliance with local laws, Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range for each role. The proposed salary range for this position is $197,800 – $324,000 with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 35%.
