that will be responsible for managing the production, coordination, and distribution of transit information and materials from our warehouse location. The period of the assignment will range between 6 months to a year with the possibility of extension. In this position, you will lead various activities that include mentoring others and represent multiple functions within the Service Information Team. This recruitment may be used to generate a pool for future Special Duty Assignment (SDA) positions that may occur in this classification. The pool would be valid for twelve months upon creation and may be extended at the discretion of the hiring authority. Communications Production and Distribution Specialist (CS III), you will:

Research, create, and coordinate the production and distribution of public-facing and internal-facing communications products, including but not limited to signage, transfers, brochures, bus schedules, rider alerts, web content, and more. Ensure the Information Distribution Warehouse functions optimally and is prepared for day-to-day operations and Service Change by coordinating, supporting, and directing the projects and work of staff at the Distribution Warehouse. Provide coverage and fill-in for distribution warehouse duties as needed. Maintain documents regarding warehouse processes and systems. Participate in consultant and vendor selection processes; oversee the work of consultants and vendors related to warehoused products. Identify needs and issues of Communication information and respond to inquiries regarding communication materials, their distribution, and acquisition. Organize, review, report up, and make decisions regarding warehouse functions under the guidance of the Chief of Service Information. Identify communication and distribution concerns and help resolve problems, assess needs, and design special communication products to meet those needs. Develop effective networks with stakeholders, agencies, other jurisdictions, and others to support development, implementation, and distribution of projects. Plan project timelines and implementation; manage and evaluate projects and/or programs. Review and proofread projects/proposals and make recommendations. Crosstrain and support Service Information team members with continuous bodies of work and service change. Drive Metro vehicles in heavy traffic and make frequent stops to post service information at bus zones, vendor locations, and transit facilities. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Use basic hand tools to post communications materials in the field. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of publications processes for printed materials. Knowledge of communications principles, methods, and materials/mediums. Customer relations experience. Knowledge of government and community processes and structures. General knowledge of lead techniques and principles and collective bargaining agreements. Coaching and mentoring skills. Skills in comprehending, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating, in writing, orally, or visually, technical information to non-technical audiences. Skills in the use of creativity and imagination in preparing communication materials that address the needs of targeted audiences. Skill in making decisions about the types of communication methods or tools necessary for assigned work. Skilled proficiency in writing, grammar, spelling, editing/proofreading, and/or illustrating information in a clear and concise manner. Skill in working under pressure and meeting deadlines. Skill in organizing work assignments and setting priorities. Skill in acting in a tactful and diplomatic manner and working on sensitive issues with diverse groups in a politically sensitive environment. Skill in taking the initiative to identify improved or more-effective communications strategies. Skill in identifying and developing short- and long-range communication plans and/or strategies. Knowledge of Metro's transit service area, transit routes, schedules, and other organization knowledge. Skill in the use of a computer and appropriate applications including but not limited to: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Strong customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of individuals. Highly organized, with attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy of work products. Ability to prioritize assignments, manage daily work assigned, and meet deadlines. An independent thinker, who can also work in collaboration with others. Desired Qualifications:

Graphic Design or Information Production experience. Experience with graphic design and Adobe products such as InDesign and Illustrator. Forklift experience or certification or the ability to acquire forklift certification within 90 days of hire. Previous experience with proofing, proofreading, and editing. Previous communication distribution experience. Experience with using or creating maps. Experience with creating instructions for others to follow. One year or more of experience understanding and working with topics related to the transit customer experience, transit customer needs, customer use of transit products and services, and resolving customer complaints. Previous experience working within a warehouse database or inventory software. Knowledge of photography and videography concepts. Previous experience with King County Metro. Licensing, Certification and Other Requirements:

Valid Washington State Driver's license is required. This position requires that you report to duty regardless of inclement weather. Forklift certification within 90 days of hire. from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is

not

Work must be performed on-site and is not eligible for teleworking without manager approval. Due to required training and the body of work, availability for approved leaves may be limited or unavailable for the first 10 weeks. Delays in work completion may result in the cancellation of the SDA.
