Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Center Operations & Events, the Audio/Visual Production Manager serves as the functional expert responsible for the planning, staffing, and tactical execution of the audio/visual production events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helps to educate students, engage the community, enrich the Emory experience, and is responsible for technical services and performance venues in the Student Center facilities.
  • Manages the vision, planning, and production for all technical and A/V services coordinated through the Student Centers, including spaces in the Emory Student Center, Alumni Memorial University Center, Cox Hall, Campus Life Pavilion, outdoor event spaces, and other Emory Campus Life (ECL) events as required.
  • Provides consultation and establishes engineering standards for electronic equipment to be installed in ECL facilities, including designing wiring diagrams and ensuring the equipment network is compatible.
  • Works with Campus Life Technical Services (CLTS) and Office of Information Technology (OIT) in establishing technical requirements and equipment specifications for video systems, audio systems, and other electronic equipment to be installed in ECL facilities.
  • Manages the implementation of electronic equipment within Student Center facilities, and in other ECL areas as assigned.
  • Creates and sets up monitoring, repair, and refresh programs for all equipment.
  • Fosters purposeful partnerships with students, staff, and clients to produce large-scale events in the facilities, theatrical/musical based shows, or large events with special needs, including Commencement, Homecoming, conferences, and outdoor events as well as events produced by the Development and Alumni Relations Office, President's Office, Board of Trustees, and Office of Admissions.
  • Advances social justice ideals through the technical and performance production process, with specific attention to issues related to access and universal design.
  • Coordinates stage and riser installations to compliment production plan as necessary.
  • Supervises, schedules, and trains student and temporary employees, including Audio/Visual student staff.
  • Develops, coordinates, and delivers orientation and training programs for Audio/Visual production student staff, building managers, and professional staff, including audio visual and performance venues orientation, standards for productions and set-up protocol, emergency and risk management procedures, and best practices for A/V production.
  • Facilitates cross-training programs for A/V production student staff to ensure basic job function understanding across all areas; connects training with departmental learning outcomes and competencies. Interfaces with Meeting Services staff to assist clients in planning and implementing audio/visual and technical production, provides detailed audio/visual and technical requirements and plans.
  • Attends events that require professional production management on-site. Attends and assists in pre-event site/venue tours with potential clients as requested by Meeting Services.
  • Recommends appropriate venue options to Meeting Services and clients based on the scope and specifications of the event.
  • Liaises with ECL staff, catering vendors, Operations and Maintenance, Grounds, Waste Management, and other parties participating in producing events. Manages budgets related to student staffing and equipment maintenance and refresh.
  • Receives and pre-tests all digital cinema packages, blu rays, DVDs, and other media for ECL events.
  • Recommends improvements to maximize effective and efficient use of revenue streams concerning event operations.
  • Works with outside vendors to ensure proper set-up with facility for event support and coordinates support for servicing equipment.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as required

A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in special events management, audio/visual production, and/or technology services, or related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
