La Ligne
Location: New York, NY (Soho)
Hours: 40-50 hours per month
Assignment Duration: 12 months +
At La Ligne (http://www.lalignenyc.com), we believe in the universal appeal of the stripe—always classic, forever chic. With a nod to its iconic roots, we created La Ligne to give women a few new (and unexpected) ways to wear it. La Ligne offers versatile clothing collections inspired by the line with endless styling options.
We’re inspired by all kinds of self-expression. We design everyday necessities and the occasional splurge—the kind of clothing we would want to wear. We prize functionality but we also want you to have fun while you’re at it. In other words, if you can’t eat, dance and drink in it, we won’t make it. And while some clothes stay and some go, we want to be the ones that stay awhile.
The Role: La Ligne is looking for a Technical Designer to assist both the Design and Production teams in delivering high quality denim (jeans, jackets, dresses, etc.) on time.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the design team to understand creative concepts and translate into technical specifications. Send seasonal line plan to the factories to highlight development assortment. Develop and create detailed tech packs, including flat sketches, BOM, construction details, wash page, stitch guide, and specs. Work closely with Studio Manager to send references, samples, swatches, etc. to overseas factories. Spec all samples when they arrive and record measurements in tech packs. Conduct fittings for proto, SMS and PPS. Communicate with factory to make necessary adjustments to patterns / construction / wash. After fitting, partner with Design Director to discuss priority / timeline. Review and compare tech packs at the SMS, PPS, and bulk stages for accuracy and details, including but not limited to: comparing sample to pattern, previous sample/production, design/founders’ comments & factory callouts in order to prepare for the fitting. Samples should spec’d, steamed/ironed and previous/reference sample + pattern readily available. Approve TOPs according to quality control standards Draft a technical design or construction sketch when required to coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to produce a design Update WIP columns post comment sending and add any additional call outs as necessary Issue graded measures based on grading rules and style specifications, once PP sample is approved Collaborate with overseas factories on issues regarding grading rules Add measures to Care Label Chart in Dropbox for external/customer reference once graded specs are approved Partner with factories to ensure deadlines are met (samples x fty and comments x LL) in order to maintain development and production calendars. Ad hoc projects as assigned by Design Directory, including but are not limited to: review and update grading rules, review and update tech pack template, assist with transferring tech designer’s procedure from excel to Zedonk system, create quality standards manual, etc. Qualifications/Skills:
