Job Title: Health Editor (Contract Position)

Job Overview:

Medscape is seeking a Health Editor to oversee the assignment and editing of medical news content related to cardiology. This role ensures content accuracy, clarity, and relevance for a physician audience. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cardiology content editing, exceptional editing skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, virtual newsroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop fresh and engaging story angles in cardiology.
  • Assign and edit high-quality cardiology articles for a specialized physician audience.
  • Collaborate with freelance writers, providing clear guidance and feedback.
  • Work with marketing teams to create compelling newsletters and promotional content.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to ensure timely publication of content.
  • Support the Cardiology and Campaigns teams on special editorial projects.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 5+ years of health content editing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of cardiology and 5+ years of cardiology content experience.
  • Strong ability to assign and refine story ideas for freelancers.
  • Deadline-driven with high productivity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to edit stories for accuracy, balance, timeliness, and relevance.
  • Strong proofreading skills with a keen eye for clarity and conciseness.
  • Ability to translate complex medical language into accessible content.
  • Flexible and creative mindset in a dynamic, competitive editorial environment.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Biology, or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of cardiology content experience.

This hybrid role requires in-office presence on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Atlanta (preferred) or Newark (secondary option).
