Job Overview:
Medscape is seeking a Health Editor to oversee the assignment and editing of medical news content related to cardiology. This role ensures content accuracy, clarity, and relevance for a physician audience. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cardiology content editing, exceptional editing skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, virtual newsroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop fresh and engaging story angles in cardiology.
- Assign and edit high-quality cardiology articles for a specialized physician audience.
- Collaborate with freelance writers, providing clear guidance and feedback.
- Work with marketing teams to create compelling newsletters and promotional content.
- Coordinate with operations teams to ensure timely publication of content.
- Support the Cardiology and Campaigns teams on special editorial projects.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 5+ years of health content editing experience.
- Extensive knowledge of cardiology and 5+ years of cardiology content experience.
- Strong ability to assign and refine story ideas for freelancers.
- Deadline-driven with high productivity and attention to detail.
- Ability to edit stories for accuracy, balance, timeliness, and relevance.
- Strong proofreading skills with a keen eye for clarity and conciseness.
- Ability to translate complex medical language into accessible content.
- Flexible and creative mindset in a dynamic, competitive editorial environment.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Biology, or a relevant field.
- 5+ years of cardiology content experience.
This hybrid role requires in-office presence on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Atlanta (preferred) or Newark (secondary option).
