Fire Alarm Designer
Fire Protection System Designer- Fire Suppression Systems- Safety Systems Designer
Our client in the local area is actively seeking an experienced designer or drafter with Fire Alarm Systems. Individuals can either be a degreed engineer or non-degreed experienced drafter/designer with strong technical design experience and excellent communications skills. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

A successful candidate will perform duties such as:
- Review customer requirements and collaborate with team members to gather the required information to design fire alarm systems (fire protection, fire sprinkler systems considered)
- Develop detailed fire alarm system designs for commercial & industrial projects
- Fire Protection, Fire Suppression or Sprinkler System experience a plus
- Fire alarm design experience with manufacturers such as: Notifier, Kidde, Potter, AutoCall, Gamewell, FCI, Simplex, Firelite
- Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts
- Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
- Prepare shop drawings/plans that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements
- Utilize software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations: i.e. AutoCAD, REVIT
- AutoSPRINK, and/or HydraCAD experience a plus
- Prepare submittals and material lists
- Adhere to National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) codes and standards and local building code compliance requirements
- Review As Built drawings
- Create architectural floor plans from field surveys
- Create accurate and code-compliant design drawings and specifications
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints
- Prepare material and equipment specifications and cost estimates
- Maintain thorough documentation of designs and revisions
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing engineering, or a plus
- Three (3) or more years of experience in systems design for fire alarms
- Fire protection, fire suppression, or plumbing design experience considered
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, MS Word, and Excel
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD, Revit, and/or other fire related design software
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
- NICET Certification a plus
- Understanding of NFPA Standards and Building Codes
- Strong understanding of system installation practices
