Job Summary:
Sonoma Valley Unified School District seeks a dynamic and passionate Art & Music Teacher for Altimira Middle School. This role involves a .60 FTE commitment (.40 FTE Art / .20 FTE Music) designed for educators who are enthusiastic about fostering creativity, artistic talent, and musical expression in middle school students during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in art and music tailored to diverse middle school learners.
- Develop creative lesson plans to inspire and encourage student participation and enthusiasm for the arts.
- Evaluate and adapt instructional strategies to meet students' varied learning styles and educational needs.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment, ensuring effective classroom management aligned with school and district policies.
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing meaningful feedback and support for student growth.
- Collaborate actively with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student success and maintain clear communication regarding student achievements and needs.
- Participate in professional development and school-wide activities to continually enhance teaching effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art and Music, with English Learner Authorization or eligibility to obtain proper authorization from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Experience in developing and implementing engaging, standards-aligned art and music instruction.
- Proven ability to work effectively with middle school students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage actively in classroom teaching, including standing, walking, and other instructional movements.
- Clear verbal and visual abilities required for effective classroom communication, instructional demonstration, and student engagement.
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Valid California Single Subject Credential in Art and Music.
- English Learner Authorization or eligibility for authorization through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Salary & Benefits:
- Annual salary range: $62,020 – $110,106 (full-time equivalent), commensurate with experience, educational units, and bargaining unit agreements.

- Additional compensation based on advanced degrees and relevant certifications:
- Earn additional stipends: Master's or Doctorate Degree.
- Final salary placement is determined upon verification of official transcripts and prior teaching experience.
