Job Summary: California public schools are actively hiring passionate and dedicated Music Teachers for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. These positions specifically recruit certified music educators interested in teaching in California, addressing increased demand from Proposition 28 funding, which has significantly expanded support for arts education across the state.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned music education curriculum tailored to diverse student populations.
- Teach music fundamentals, including vocal music, instrumental performance, music theory, and appreciation.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves creatively and explore their musical talents.
- Conduct regular assessments of student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, school administrators, and parents to support student success and enrich the broader school community.
- Maintain organized classroom management practices in alignment with district guidelines and policies.
- Direct school ensembles, organize performances, and participate in school events.
Qualifications:
- Valid California Teaching Credential in Music or eligibility to obtain one (California offers credential reciprocity for out-of-state educators).
- English Learner (EL) Authorization or eligibility to acquire from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Experience teaching music to diverse student populations is highly preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and fostering an appreciation for music among all students.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage actively with students through musical instruction and activities, including prolonged periods of standing, conducting, and instrumental demonstrations.
- Effective auditory and visual capabilities necessary for teaching music concepts and guiding performances.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field required; Master's or Doctorate preferred.
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $56,155 – $117,259 annually, based on experience and education
- Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and retirement contributions.
- Additional stipends may be available for advanced degrees or additional responsibilities.
