KOKI/Fox23 Tulsa has an opening for a Multimedia Journalist/Producer who is looking to transition into an on-air position. We are thriving in an active market with its share of weather and breaking news. We are looking for a journalist who is passionate about telling stories that matter to our community. You will be part of a collaborative newsroom where we mentor, train, and coach you. Our newsroom is a fast-paced environment where accuracy is a must and innovative people thrive. You will be responsible for pitching and producing enterprising content that engages our news viewers across all our platforms.
Job Duties
- Produces newscasts for broadcast across all platforms.
- Understands flow of a newscast.
- Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts.
- Write, shoot, edit and present compelling content both on-air and online.
- Post content and engage with audiences on social media platforms.
- Demonstrate solid news judgment and storytelling abilities, with a passion for delivering original, imaginative content every day.
- Excel at breaking news and enterprise significant, local stories.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism (or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team player who works well with others.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, outside the box thinker who can establish facts.
- Must be well-read in current events and have a wide range of working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
- Strong on-air presence.
- Open to receiving coaching and feedback.
- Be familiar with and understand non-linear editing techniques to meet deadlines and create high-impact stories.
- Understand how to properly light interviewees in the field.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.
- Knowledge of the Tulsa DMA and Oklahoma is helpful.
Physical Demands
Must be able to carry and set up a camera on a tripod.
