Passionate about cooking, baking, or the culinary arts and have an appetite for food science and exploration.
Possess strong visualization and sketching skills with the ability to articulate the meaning of your output.
Willing to work from a blank sheet of paper and self-direct knowing you have the support from a group of extremely talented designers.
A team player who is excited about collaboration with our design, engineering, manufacturing, creative, and sales teams.
Experienced in industrial design, product development, or a related creative field, and eager to contribute fresh ideas to both the aesthetic and functional challenges of kitchenware design.
What you will get to do:
Support the in-house Design & Development team with design, research & testing.
Contribute to new and ongoing bakeware/cookware initiatives by assisting with sketching, prototyping, testing and maintaining and organizing the test kitchen and prototype lab. Related tasks include:
Prototyping:
Sand, paint, finish either plastic or sandcast models
Load/unload & maintenance of in-house MakerBot machines
Clean/organize prototype lab
Sketching: Assist with customer requested concepts.
CAD work and Rendering Work:
Create & provide renderings for new products.
Assist design team with CAD after sketch phase.
Create renderings for sales on new design concepts to send to customers.
Drawings:
Support team with drawings of past & current products for Quality Assurance & Toolroom.
Create necessary presentations for existing and new concepts.
Testing/Research:
Test bake & document results.
Record notes/photos from testing.
Research uses, designs, trends, etc. when needed.
Create trend boards and presentations to defend new design concepts.
Update and streamline the process for archiving retired products and keep archives accurate.
Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
What we are looking for in you:
Currently pursuing or holding an Industrial Design or Fine Arts related degree
Four (4)+ years of relevant academic or industrial design experience
One (1)+ years of experience using CAD, rendering and design software required.
Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Sketching experience
Experience in prototyping with manual tools and power machinery preferred.
Ability to create technical drawings using CAD or rendering software
Ability to organize physical materials to provide better functionality for workflows and storage
Adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to accept and respond to feedback from stakeholders
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
This position is a part-time position located in our corporate headquarters in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota and may be eligible for a Hybrid work arrangement after an initial training period.
