The Job The Sales Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining training programs that equip Medicare sales agents with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to effectively and compliantly sell SCAN Medicare health plans. This role works closely with the training team, sales leadership, product teams, and compliance to ensure training content supports agent success in understanding health plan benefits, using enrollment systems, and following regulatory guidelines. You Will Create and update training materials for SCAN plans and products, Medicare knowledge topics, sales processes, enrollment system navigation, and regulatory compliance tools and resources. Develop instructor-led (ILT), virtual instructor-led (vILT), eLearning, and blended learning solutions. Design interactive learning experiences, role-playing scenarios, and knowledge assessments. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with internal teams (sales, product, compliance, technology) to gather accurate content and ensure alignment with business needs. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to SCAN Health plans, Medicare industry related topics, and internal and external agent processes, regulatory guidelines. Product & Systems Training: Develop training to ensure agents understand Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D products. Develop training on enrollment platforms and customer relationship management (CRM) systems used by sales agents. Sales Process Training: Develop training to enhance agents’ consultative sales skills, including needs assessments, objection handling, and compliant closing techniques. Monitor training effectiveness using participant feedback, assessment scores, and sales performance data. Identify gaps in agent knowledge and adjust training programs to address them. Track training participation and maintain documentation for compliance purposes. Compliance Integration: Ensure all training materials comply with CMS marketing and sales guidelines. Incorporate compliance reminders and ethical sales practices into all training programs. Your Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience will be considered. Preferred Certifications or Licenses: ATD (Association for Talent Development) Certifications Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) Certified Instructional Designer/Developer (CIDD) ISPI Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) eLearning Guild Certifications (eLearning Instructional Designer Certificate) Experience Preferred: Equivalent work experience in instructional design, training, or sales education will be considered. In-depth understanding of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick). Strong knowledge of Medicare health plans, including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D plans. Familiarity with CMS guidelines for Medicare sales and marketing compliance. Understanding of sales processes and techniques, particularly in health insurance. Minimum of 5 years of instructional design experience, preferably in sales training or healthcare. Experience designing training for Medicare sales agents strongly preferred. Experience working in a regulated environment (health insurance, healthcare, or finance). Previous experience collaborating with compliance teams to ensure training adherence to regulations. Proficiency in instructional design software such as Articulate 360, Rise, or Captivate. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for content delivery and tracking. Basic multimedia design and editing (video/audio) is a plus. Strong instructional design skills with expertise in adult learning principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong project management and organizational abilities. Ability to simplify complex topics into clear, learner-friendly content. High attention to detail with a focus on quality and compliance. Strong facilitation and presentation skills (for train-the-trainer sessions if needed). Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments. What's in it for you?
