PRODUCTION ARTIST – CREATIVE

Hybrid Role | Onsite at Jostens’ Corporate Office (Minneapolis, MN) Monday–Wednesday

ABOUT YOU:

The role of a Production Artist - Creative involves both independent and collaborative work, partnering closely with creative staff, marketing teams and external vendors to effectively manage art files and electronic presentations. The position is responsible for ensuring that all materials align with and maintain consistency to brand and copy guidelines while also coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives and deadlines. The position will perform prepress and quality-control checks on a variety of creative deliverable files, ensuring the final artwork aligns with briefed specs and vendor needs.

YOU HAVE:

Education. Preferred Bachelor’s degree or comparable higher education focused on graphics communication or art/design/layout.

Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite. High level of knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud apps (especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator).

Technical proficiency. Technical knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, font software, Fetch, Microsoft Office. Knowledge of PDF forms to create editable files. Preferred experience with project management software (Wrike).

Print production knowledge. 2-3 years’ minimum experience in image and file prep for high-end print production. Advanced knowledge of print production, prepress and printing. Solid working knowledge of digital workflow and digital file/image formats. Working knowledge of current licensing, sourcing guidelines for stock photography, images and fonts. Preferred typography training/experience and familiarity with AP style.

Color correction and image manipulation skills. Proficient with color correction and image manipulation. Preferred knowledge of PDF accessibility.

Content and copy accuracy. Ability to independently review content and copy for accuracy and consistency. Experience following a house style guide. Skilled at proofreading.

Attention to detail and ownership. Extremely detail-oriented and able to take ownership and responsibility for work; able to work under tight deadlines and capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects.

Collaboration and communication. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; comfortable communicating to all levels of corporate personnel and outside resources. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

YOU WILL:

File creation and development. Independently update and manage art files, ensuring that print-ready files meet Jostens brand standards and specifications.

Accuracy and consistency. Adjust layouts, typography, and images to align with printing standards while maintaining brand consistency across all materials.

Proofing and review. Review final copy, layouts, and content (proofreading) for accuracy, ensuring alignment with specs before delivery to vendors or printers.

Time and budget management. Ensure projects are completed within allocated timeframes and budgets while staying updated on software techniques and design trends.

File review and organization. Review final project files for completeness, removing unnecessary images, versions, and documents to ensure streamlined storage.

Archiving and server management. Offload completed project files to the archive server and collaborate with IT to manage available server space effectively.

Typical/expected % of overnight travel. None to limited.
