Application for Lecturer - Studio Lessons

The Department of Music at Princeton University may have occasional openings for semester-long, renewable, non-tenure-track lecturer positions to teach in our studio lesson program, for the fall and/or spring semesters of the 2025-2026 academic year, and accepts applications in advance in the event the occasion arises where such lecturers are needed.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching private instrumental/vocal lessons to Princeton University students;
  2. Adjudicating juries;
  3. Evaluating arts supplements in support of University admissions processes;
  4. Writing letters of recommendation;
  5. Programming for Richardson Chamber Players;
  6. Presenting master classes;
  7. Coaching student soloists and ensembles;
  8. Performing administrative and clerical support functions, including coordinating teaching schedules, entering grades, responding to student inquiries, and more.

Any appointments and duty time are subject to student enrollment in the studio lessons program. The work location for these positions is in-person on campus at Princeton University.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience. They must also demonstrate effective studio teaching, ensemble skill-building, and knowledge of repertoire.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  1. Experience in a college or university setting;
  2. Experience coaching soloists and ensembles;
  3. Teaching of master classes.
