Position Summary
Torreyson Library seeks applicants for the position of Chief of Library Staff. This position reports to the Library Director.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Voice of Library Staff in library leadership
- Liaison with University Human Resources
- Provides general HR duties for the library
- Initiates hiring documents in appropriate software
- Places job advertisements in appropriate places
- Ex officio participant on all hiring committees
- Assists committee chair with administrative tasks
- Provides onboarding for all employees
- Coordinates employee annual evaluations
- Ensures proper offboarding for all employees
- Completes appropriate paperwork
- Coordinates internal library communication
- Training & Development
- Tracks employee mandatory training
- Coordinates year-long professional development
- Awards & Rewards
- Develops and implements an internal library program for awards
- Maintains a schedule of awards and rewards external to the library
- Keeps staff master calendar
- Approves timesheets
- Works with Library Specialist for Student Engagement to coordinate best HR practices with student employees
- Other duties as assigned

Required Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree plus three years supervisory experience; demonstrated leadership experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
