About Aid to the Church in Need – United States Aid to the Church in Need – USA (ACNUSA) is a growing 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, New York. ACNUSA is a Catholic non-profit organization under the auspices of the Vatican. ACNUSA raises funds to support and promote the work of the Church around the world, by providing practical assistance and pastoral care to persons in need, especially Christians who are suffering from persecution or discrimination. www.churchinneed.org Areas of Responsibility include, but are not limited to the following: The Communications Officer is responsible for raising awareness of the plight of suffering Christians around the world and amplifying the impact of ACNUSA’s work. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for executing a comprehensive communications plan to increase ACNUSA’s visibility in the Catholic marketplace. Primary Responsibilities

Overall Implement ACNUSA’s strategic communications plan to build brand awareness and enhance ACNUSA's presence in the Catholic market (Print, Digital, TV & Radio). Proactively engage with Catholic and secular news media to secure placements for ACNUSA news stories. Serve as a spokesperson and face of the organization at media events, press conferences, and interviews. Manage style guides, branding and other materials to ensure consistent communication across all departments. Edit and proofread all communications materials for accuracy and clarity. Foster cross-departmental collaboration and communication best practices within the organization. Coordinate stories with ACNUSA journalist team on the ground. Content Creation & Coordination

Overall content: Draft and edit press releases, speeches, newsletters, and other communications, ensuring all materials align with ACN’s branding and messaging guidelines. Conduct quality control on all communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy. Organize and curate the content produced by ACN's international network. Compile from ACNINT’s database compelling photos, videos, and other multimedia content for online and print publications. Special projects

Assist in branding and promoting ACNUSA's flagship publications: www.churchinneed.org/news ACNUSA's YouTube channel CatholicInternational.org "The Church Around the World" magazine Coordinate the launch of ACNINT reports, including but not limited to Religious Freedom report; Persecuted & Forgotten report; Annual activity report. Media

Develop engaging weekly stories related to the Catholic Church and ACN's mission, pitching them to various media outlets. Collaborate with the social media team to produce a content calendar, ensuring timely and strategic messaging. Build relationships with Catholic influencers to promote ACNUSA’s “Courage in Faith” Initiative. Build and maintain relationships with journalists, Catholic media, and other relevant media outlets. Proactively pitch stories to Catholic newspapers, websites, and media outlets to elevate ACN’s visibility. Develop sources within the Catholic hierarchy to stay informed of important news and story opportunities. Monitor media coverage and draft appropriate responses when necessary. Events & Promotions:

Organize and promote ACN’s physical and online events, including press tours, conferences, and special events. Conduct interviews with ACN guests from overseas. Moderate ACN discussions on Zoom, TV, Radio, and podcasts. Accompany high-level guests to advocacy meetings in Washington DC. Represent ACN at speaking engagements, media interviews, and promotional functions. Work closely with the National Director and executive management on communication procedures and crisis strategies. Required Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong eye for detail and accuracy. Proven editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills with the ability to produce clear, engaging content. Strong understanding of media relations, social media strategy, and public relations. Experience managing Social Media accounts. Knowledge of the Catholic Church, its structure, and its teachings is highly preferred. Ability to multitask and work independently or in a team environment. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Availability to travel both domestically and internationally. Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a communications or content marketing role within a non-profit or faith-based organization. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Experience with content management systems (CMS) is a plus. A passion for the Catholic faith and the mission of ACNUSA. A passion for serving our donors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to build relationships and initiate contacts. Proficiency in social media platforms. Experience with video editing and production is a plus. Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Physical Requirements

Travel:

The Communications Officer must have the ability to travel. International travel is required to gain firsthand knowledge of ACNUSA-supported projects and programs. Domestic travel is required to attend various conferences and meetings. Administrative:

The Communications Officer must have the ability to lift and carry small packages and other items operation of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, cellular phones, and the like, is also required. Communication:

In addition, Communication with other employees, both orally and in writing, is required. According to the present policies of ACNUSA, the Communications Officer is expected to be on-site 4 days per week in the office, while the remaining workday can be done remotely. ACNUSA reserves the right to modify these policies. Compensation and Hours Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000 per year Benefits package range: From individual coverage (approx. $9,500) to spouse and dependent coverage (Approx. $16,000 - $27,800). Benefits include paid time off, health, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, health savings account, flexible spending account, and 401(k) matching. Health benefits package is covered 100% by the employer. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) with an immediate start date. The typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 9am – 5pm. However, flexibility is needed to accommodate business needs, including periodic attendance at evening and weekend functions.
