Job Summary/Basic Function

The Theatre Department at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN seeks an Artist-in-Residence for Fall 2025 (August 21-December 17, 2025). The guest artist will direct and choreograph Jesus Christ, Superstar, teach a Musical Theatre performance class to students with a wide range of experience, and coach audition strategies for 8-12 students leading to individual video reels. The Artist-in-Residence stipend for the semester ranges from $24,000 to $30,000.

We are looking for an experienced director/choreographer who is enthusiastic about working with undergraduates. Applicants should briefly articulate their production process; discuss their approach to teaching students with a broad range of experience in Dance; discuss audition-coaching methods; discuss professional and academic directing and choreography experience; and describe how they will contribute to the diversity of the College.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Ability to coach acting and auditioning
  2. Directed or choreographed 3 musical theatre productions
  3. Enthusiasm for mentoring undergraduates in a liberal arts theatre department
  4. Commitment to a healthy collaborative environment
  5. Commitment to quality and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

  1. BA, BFA or MFA
  2. Professional work as director/choreographer
  3. Experience teaching college-level students
