The Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District Marketing, Communications & Events Department is pleased to announce an open

Marketing Specialist

position. Under the direction of the Department Manager, the

Marketing Specialist

assists with graphic design, content creation, social media campaign management, market trend analysis and optimizing efforts to drive District brand awareness, promote programs and events, and engagement. Creativity, communication and technical skills are essential.

Essential Functions

Create engaging digital and print collateral (flyers, posters, banners, signage, website graphics, social media content) that aligns with District branding.

Manage distribution of marketing materials across District digital platforms, parks, facilities and community locations (e.g., City Hall, Pleasant Hill Library, Chamber of Commerce).

Produce short, creative promotional videos for social media platforms.

Collaborate on writing social media posts and monitor engagement and analytics.

Design and gather content for monthly eNews and other direct email communications.

Capture quality photos of recreation classes/events and manage photo library for marketing use.

Process and manage online marketing requests.

Regularly update District website and track analytics.

Assist in managing District merchandise orders and support community event booth setup.

Provide administrative support including copy editing, business card orders, and letterhead design.

Support Signature events and other tasks as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

Experience

Associate degree or Bachelors of Arts degree (preferred) in marketing, communications, graphic design or related field and 3+ years in related work experience in a professional environment.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following technical skills:

Expertise in Adobe Suite products including Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator

Advanced proficiency in Canva.com, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook), and social media management skills (Facebook, Instagram, X)

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 apps (One Drive, SharePoint, Teams) web-based file sharing (Google Drive, Dropbox), and video editor software (iMovie, Animoto, or other comparable video editing software)

Must develop proficiency with Civic Plus and Wix.com software within 6 months of employment.
