At KD Nutra, we are looking for a dedicated and skilled Buyer Planner to join our team. This role requires a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry's regulatory and quality standards. The Buyer ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, packaging components, and equipment while adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Material Sourcing : Identify, source, and purchase raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, packaging materials, Lab chemicals and reagents, goods and services required by Production, Engineering, QA, QC as well as other components needed for manufacturing. Select materials based on specifications; select vendor on basis of price, capability and past performance.
  2. Supplier Management : Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery. Resolution of claims with suppliers and carriers. Follow up on orders, delivery dates and expedite delivery of materials to meet target dates, prevent excessive inventory and avoid stock shortages.
  3. Negotiation and Cost Control : Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers while striving to reduce costs and improve procurement efficiency. Monitor market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
  4. Inventory Management : Monitor inventory levels and initiate reordering based on production forecasts to prevent stockouts or excess inventory. Maintain “just-in-time” level of inventory. Lead lean process improvement initiatives related to raw materials and overall improvements to the Purchasing Department.
  5. Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all materials purchased meet the required industry regulations, such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, and other relevant standards. Responsible for Raw Materials during the entire process, including QC release and any issue that arise during / after production cycle. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure purchased materials meet required specifications and quality standards.
  6. Documentation : Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements. Search and qualify alternate vendors to create competition and avoid back orders. Maintain List of Approved suppliers.
  7. Market Research : Stay updated on market trends, new suppliers, and product innovations to ensure competitive procurement strategies.
  8. Collaboration : Work closely with other departments such as production, R&D, and logistics to ensure timely and efficient material supply. Give support to other departments within Supply Chain to achieve common goals. Interface with Technical Services, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and vendors to resolve quality issues.
  9. Problem-Solving : Address any supply chain disruptions or quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
  10. Risk Management : Assess and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including supplier reliability, price fluctuations, and potential regulatory changes. Utilize ERP and MRP systems to track purchases, monitor supplier performance, and analyze spending patterns.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in purchasing or supply chain management within the manufacturing industry.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, ISM) or equivalent.
  • Experience with global sourcing and familiarity with international trade regulations.

Skills :

In this role, strong supply management skills will be essential for negotiating contracts and ensuring that materials are procured at the best possible prices. Cost reduction techniques will be applied daily to identify areas for savings without compromising quality. Proficiency in ERP and MRP systems will facilitate efficient tracking of purchase orders and inventory levels, allowing for timely decision-making. Familiarity with bar code systems will enhance inventory accuracy and streamline the purchasing process. Additionally, global sourcing skills will enable you to tap into international markets, ensuring a diverse and reliable supply chain.
