Job Title: Technical Writer at Abacus Technology Corporation
Abacus Technology is seeking a Technical Writer to provide documentation support for technical tasks and acquisition activities related to the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence, and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate at Hanscom AFB. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Apply writing skills and knowledge of relevant subject-matter fields to communicate scientific and technological developments effectively.
- Develop specifications, training, operating, or maintenance manuals for equipment and systems.
- Report research findings and articulate agency policies and technical aspects of programs.
- Ensure materials comply with agency policies, style requirements, and are suitable for the intended audience.
- Utilize desktop publishing hardware for drafting, editing, designing, printing, and distributing materials.
- Manage publications from conception to distribution and coordinate with other publishing personnel.
- Conduct final reviews of publications for style, design, and editorial quality.
- Prepare original scientific, technical, or professional reports based on research and interviews.
- Create user documentation, such as guides and manuals, and prepare charts and graphs to accompany drafts.
- Ensure document contents follow required formats and maintain consistency across documents.
- Collaborate with customer representatives, vendors, system engineers, and program managers to establish technical specifications.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of technical writing experience, including at least 5 years in a DoD environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; additional experience may substitute for degree requirements.
- Experience with C3I&N systems in the Department of Defense.
- Excellent writing skills, strong command of English, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with MS Project and MS Access preferred.
- Must be a US citizen with a current Secret clearance.
