Description
The Department of Drama and Dance at Hofstra University seeks applications from innovative and collaborative artists to join our pool of adjunct faculty starting February 2025.
Adjunct Scenic/Costume Design faculty member responsible for teaching introductory and intermediate courses in theater design for mixed BA and BFA classes and mentor student designers in production. Ability to teach basic VectorWorks a plus. Attendance at some design meetings, production meetings, and dress rehearsals, in order to mentor students, is expected.
Adjunct faculty collaborate with full-time theatre and dance faculty and technical staff in all facets of department functioning.
QualificationsMFA in Theatre, or other terminal degree in Production/Design AreaProfessional theatrical design experience.Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in an educational environment.
Preferred Quals SummaryMinimum two years teaching at the University level preferred.

Salary/Salary Range$1,387-$1,750 per credit
Additional InformationHofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
