Overview
Worship Director:
Assists Senior Pastor in creatively planning weekly Traditional Worship Services
Oversees the selection of music that complements the theme of the day for worship
Oversees other musical groups (i.e. handbells)
Reports usage of music to One License
Supports and helps the Worship Committee in their responsibilities
Partners with Technical Director to ensure an effective in-person and online worship experience
Partners with Contemporary Worship leadership especially with coordination of time and/or space
Special Services/Experiences:
Assists Pastor in planning and leading additional worship services as needed (e.g., Lenten, Holy Week, and Advent Services)
Offers other experiences such as concerts and missional outreach-based tours of the ministry
Funerals:
Assists with song leading in funerals, as needed
Coordinates musicians for funerals, as needed
Financial Stewardship:
Stewards Traditional Worship Ministries Budget

The Music Director of Traditional Worship works closely with the Pastor to spiritually lead and organize the Traditional Worship Ministries. The Music Director of Traditional Worship is a part-time (average 20 hours/week) and on-site staff member responsible for helping plan Traditional worship music and directing and/or leading choirs.
Education/Experience/Skills & Abilities (Preferred):
Passionate follower of Jesus who is growing in their faith
Possesses a desire to make and help grow followers of Jesus
Expresses a willingness and desire to become deeply part of the life, ministry, mission, and community of Sedge Garden UMC
Bachelor’s degree in music-related fields
Experience in Church Music Leadership (United Methodist Preferred)
Proven conducting skills, keyboard skills, and handbell directing
Experience in leading volunteers around a common goal
General knowledge of technical aspects of traditional worship services
Significant experience with computer software (email, MS Office Suite, etc.)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks with interruptions
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment with shared tasks
Flexibility to work nights/weekend/holiday hours as needed
Required passing of background check
RESULTS-BASED ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Traditional Worship Music Ministry:
Vision Curator: Casts vision and strategy for the Music Ministry and Choirs of Sedge Garden UMC
Culture Curator: Cultivates a healthy culture of family within the music ministries
Choir Director: Leads and/or directs the choirs of Sedge Garden UMC
Chancel Choir, Handbell and Chimes Choir and other choirs as the church grows
Rehearses weekly with the Chancel Choir
Provides Choir Retreats to foster community and better learn music
Recruits new members to sing within the choirs
Administrates and leads the Choral Scholar Internship Ministry
Musical Associates: Schedules and provides supervision for all Music Associates
Contracts guest musicians as needed
Music Library: Oversees the care of the music library and purchasing of new music
Instrument Maintenance and Care: Oversees the care for musical instruments (Sanctuary Organ, Chimes, Handbells, and Pianos)
