Description
The part-time Marketing Content and Design Specialist works in-person within the Marketing & Communications Dept. of Blue Ridge Community College. This person collaborates with the director, marketing staff, print shop, external vendors, and other departments to meet marketing objectives through design. This experienced designer will interface with all program and service areas, helping to assess and meet their individual needs.

Examples of Duties
Examples of DutiesDesign marketing assets for use in print, digital, website, and social media campaigns
Experience with creation of printed flyers, postcards, posters, signage, magazines, and other printed items
Produce custom graphics, including but not limited to logos, infographics, illustrations, and other vector assets
Conduct layout and page design for printed catalog, combining text, photos, and illustration assets into effective design pieces
Perform layout of e-newsletter content using Constant Contact
Track and meet deadlines and progress for multiple assignments
Review materials created by other employees and departments, offering suggestions or solutions for improvement
Assist visual coordinator with creation of graphics and assets for use in video productions and social media content
Assist website coordinator with website, as needed, to include updating photos, graphics, data, and proposing new page layouts
Stay abreast of design and content trends, recommending new solutions for program and service promotion
Other duties as assigned, such as proof-reading, inspection of literature displays and public postings, attend required College training sessionsQualifications
Education
High school diploma required, Associate's Degree in related field preferred.
Experience
All persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a workplace setting or environment.
Preferred Qualifications
At least five years of professional graphic design experience
Proficiency in design software, to include Indesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Photoshop from the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to proofread
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a creative, collaborative team environment.
Able to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines.
Experience with delivering assets for both print and digital delivery.
Strong portfolio of digital and print-ready projects, demonstrating an understanding of brand and communication trends
Available to work 25 hours per week on the campus in Flat Rock

Physical Demands
The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines. This position does work outdoors in inclement weather.
