The Church of Annunciation is a dynamic, multi-generational Roman Catholic church with a strong sense of community in the Tangletown neighborhood of South Minneapolis. The church has a talented choir which performs repertoire from ancient chant to contemporary styles. We sing works by Vaugh Williams, Harris, Tallis, Pergolesi, Renee Clausen, Holst, Faure, Mendelssohn, as well as Rutter, Gjeilo, Joncas, Haugen, Farrell, and many other great composers of the past and present.
At minimum, this role serves as the parish lead for liturgical music, conducts the principle 9:30 am Sunday choir, and serves as the principal cantor for Saturday 5pm and Sunday 9:30am weekend masses, weddings, and funerals. There are two sacred music concerts each year (~May and November), where we celebrate sacred music with our community choirs.
Annunciation utilizes both organ and piano to accompany liturgies, and we have long-term professional accompanists on staff (proficient in both organ and piano). We utilize the revised (2010) Gather hymnal from GIA.
