At Apple, we work every single day to craft products that enrich people’s lives. Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? As a member of our Wireless Silicon Design group, you will have an outstanding and exciting opportunity to build our future products that will delight and encourage millions of Apple customers every day!
Would you like to join Apple’s growing wireless silicon development team? Our wireless SOC organization is responsible for all aspects of wireless silicon development, addressing complex usages, demanding performances, and reliabilities to enable emerging wireless applications and products. Our goals include developing innovative architectures and protocols, integrating systems and algorithms with advanced technologies to introduce innovative products, and evolving our lives through technology.
This technical role places you at the core of a silicon design team, impacting radio architecture, system performance, system integration, and physical layer algorithms for wireless communication systems. You will develop RF/analog system models, radio chain models, integrated radio interaction models, dynamic behavior models, and assess impairments. You will evaluate radio performance across various scenarios and develop calibration and correction methods for impairments.
You will collaborate with HW digital designers, architects, product teams, radio, analog designers, and SW engineers to define and specify wireless systems. Your work will include realizing physical and radio compensation algorithms with digital and firmware designers, and testing and optimizing silicon in lab environments for production quality.
Responsibilities
- Design radio models for wireless communication systems, including RF/circuit impairments, and develop calibration and impairment mitigation algorithms.
- Evaluate radio performance through quantitative analysis and link simulation.
- Collaborate with radio designers on state-of-the-art radio architecture development.
- Work with digital designers to implement PHY/radio algorithms efficiently in hardware.
- Partner with firmware designers to realize algorithms in software and hardware acceleration.
- Conduct silicon bring-up, testing, characterization, and optimization in lab settings.
Minimum Qualifications
- BSEE with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Understanding of RF and analog components, impairments, and calibration methods.
- Proven experience with RF calibration algorithms.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++ for modeling and simulation.
- Hands-on experience with lab testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
Preferred Qualifications
- MSEE/PhD with relevant experience.
- Knowledge of communication and signal processing algorithms.
- Ability to develop high-performance, power-efficient solutions for physical layer design.
- Familiarity with wireless protocols like 5G, LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth/BLE.
- Circuit design experience or knowledge.
