ARServices is seeking a Technical Editor in the Ft. Belvoir, VA area.
The Technical Editor will support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Research and Development Directorate (RD). This position provides editorial expertise, document quality control, and publication support while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and refine technical documents, reports, briefings, and presentations for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and grammatical correctness.
- Ensure compliance with formatting and publication standards, including DoD correspondence guidelines.
- Manage version control and document workflow, coordinating updates and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
- Support the development of high-quality briefing materials, white papers, and executive summaries for senior leadership.
- Provide guidance on technical writing best practices to subject matter experts.
- Work closely with authors, researchers, and leadership to enhance readability, coherence, and messaging of written materials.
- Coordinate document reviews for classification compliance, ensuring proper markings and adherence to security classification guides.
- Track, manage, and respond to internal and external taskers with attention to deadlines and accuracy.
- Active/Current Secret required
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 10 years of technical editing experience in a government or DoD setting.
- Strong command of grammar, style, and document structure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel), SharePoint, and workflow platforms.
- Experience with DoD correspondence policies and document publication standards.
- Familiarity with technical terminology, particularly in defense, science, or engineering disciplines.
- Experience working with DTRA or similar DoD organizations.
- Ability to capture meeting discussions using shorthand or rapid writing techniques.
- Experience working with O-6/GS-15 or higher.
