Assistant Professor - Speech-Language Pathology
The Department of Communication Sciences and Oral Health, housed within the College of Health Sciences, offers degrees in communication sciences and dental hygiene. Programs include a B.S. in Communication Sciences, an online master's in Education of the Deaf, and a master's in Speech-Language Pathology with both residential and distance options. We also offer post-baccalaureate certificates in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Multicultural and Diversity Studies. Additionally, there are emphasis areas in the PhD in Health Studies and the PhD in Special Education. The department comprises 26 full-time faculty members engaged in research, teaching, and clinical supervision at our speech-language pathology clinics.
The Position
The tenure-track Assistant Professor will primarily teach graduate and undergraduate courses, supervise clinical students, conduct research, and provide professional service. The role involves teaching in our CAA-accredited master's program, which includes a traditional and a distance education venue, serving nearly 200 students. Courses are taught on-campus and via live videoconferencing to statewide locations.
Qualifications include an earned research doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field; ASHA certification; and licensure (or eligibility) as a speech-language pathologist in Texas. Preferences include clinical supervisory experience and bilingual Spanish proficiency.
