Job Description:
Boston magazine is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Events Manager to lead our events and marketing initiatives. This role will oversee event strategy, execution, and sponsorship opportunities, ensuring high-quality experiences that align with our brand.
This role is ideal for a strategic and hands-on event professional with a passion for producing high-impact experiences and driving audience engagement
Responsibilities:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5+ years of experience in planning and managing large-scale special events from conceptualization to production.
- 3-5 years' experience with marketing promotions and campaigns that drive awareness and event ticket sales.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under deadline.
- Must demonstrate good leadership qualities
- Experience with hiring, onboarding and managing people
- Must be creative and able to prioritize tasks in the face of many challenges
- Virtual and physical events production experience
- Ability to prioritize and be adaptable to change
- Ability to create brand experiences that enhance reputation and brand awareness by leveraging multi-channel marketing strategies.
- Lead Boston magazine's events and consumer marketing initiatives.
- Oversee and report on event budgets, sales campaigns, and department expenses to senior leadership.
- Supervise and support the Events Manager, empowering them to lead the planning and execution of Boston Weddings, Boston Home, and other publication-related events.
- Negotiate contracts and manage production vendors, including video, photography, tenting, décor, lighting, entertainment, security, and more.
- Develop event content and secure talent, including speakers, moderators, hosts, and brand ambassadors.
- Create and maintain essential planning documents such as timelines, run-of-show schedules, and volunteer guidelines.
- Oversee event-related marketing strategies across print, digital, social media, email, and out-of-home platforms in collaboration with the Events Manager.
- Manage Boston magazine's event social media presence in collaboration with the Events Manager.
- Develop engaging sponsor activations while maintaining budget constraints.
- Partner with the sales team to curate sponsorship packages and pricing.
- Confidently present event opportunities to clients alongside the sales team, highlighting ways to create customized, elevated brand experiences.
- Analyze event data to measure ROI, attendee insights, and program success.
- Conceptualize new events to the current line-up for Boston magazine, sponsors and 3rd Party relationships
- Meet with Boston Globe events team to share ideas and foster consistent event best practices
- Attend and oversee events outside of regular office hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.
