Overview
This position is responsible for providing internal communications support for the Communications and Marketing department. Working closely with the department leadership, this position will serve as project manager for developing and implementing the feature story strategy for the Scope, Children's Mercy's intranet. These stories not only inform but also engage employees, helping them connect emotionally with our organization’s purpose and values. They collect, decide, direct, collaborate interview, capture images, write, proofread, and distribute content across various channels. In addition, the Employee Communications Manager will contribute, as needed, to other employee communications projects in support of the hospital's strategic goals.

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive internal communications support to Communications & Marketing. This includes 1) gaining a full understanding of the department’s goals and objectives; 2) working with department leaders to develop strategic communications plans; 3) executing that plan, including content development for Scope features; and 4) providing on-going consultation services to the department and Children’s Mercy internal partners on on Scope feature needs:
The Employee Communications Manager will work collaboratively with department leaders.
The Employee Communications Manager will be the day-to-day lead for feature content for The Scope. The Manager also will be responsible for developing and implementing a work plan to achieve those goals:
Working closely with department leadership, the Manager will use his/her strong project management and consensus-building skills to ensure the projects stay on track and are developed and implemented with solid, cross-functional support.
The Employee Communications Manager will support the Internal Communications team with other employee communications projects as needed. These may be short- or long-term projects, including analytics and results reporting.
Work will be assigned by direct manager. The Manager will then work with internal clients and others, as needed, to successfully complete the project to the client’s full satisfaction.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related field and 7, or more, years' experience. Experience as a reporter, web writer, web developer, corporate communications manager, or communications consultant for a PR or advertising agency.

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $34.21/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
