Job Overview

PURPOSE OF JOB: The purpose of this job is to provide an opportunity for the employee to continue learning basic healthcare skills, complete progressive Community Health Aide training, and ultimately qualify as a Community Health Practitioner. The role involves providing primary healthcare—including preventive, acute, and emergency care—to residents of an assigned village within the Bristol Bay region, within the limits of the employee's training level.

Qualifications

• High school graduate, GED, or equivalent.
• Score on the standardized Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Level D, indicating eighth-grade level competence in Applied Math, Math Computation, and Reading.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to speak the local native language is preferred.
• Dependable and maintains confidentiality.
• Resides in the assigned community or sub-region.
• Able to leave the home community for training periods of 1 to 6 weeks or more.
• Certified as a Level III or above Community Health Aide/Practitioner.
• Able to provide year-round clinic coverage and 24-hour emergency call.
• Capable of performing the physical demands of the job.
• If assigned to a specific village, recommended by the Traditional Village Council.
• Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
• If authorized to drive a community vehicle, hold a current, insurable driver’s license.
• Complete all required immunizations and testing for Session Training.
