JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for electronic design, file creation, and output operations necessary to produce printed materials, as requested by students, parents’ organizations, and employees of the district. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. - Manage all assigned design projects, activities, and schedules, including editing, revising, and prepress processes.
- Use desktop publishing software to produce professional print and electronic materials for district-wide and community distribution, integrating typography, photography, graphics, and color schemes.
- Create original artwork and translate into print and electronic materials.
- Operate color scanners, perform image manipulation, and create vector-based illustrations.
- Use OCR software to scan and import text from customer files.
- Operate equipment such as wide-format printers, laminators, and cutters.
- Proofread and inspect the quality of all finished artwork.
- Provide backup for print production and bindery functions.
- Assist with customer service calls and support.
- Determine appropriate materials and prepare files for output, ensuring quality and correct formatting.
- Organize and maintain electronic files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
- Associate Degree in Graphic Arts or equivalent experience focusing on electronic design.
- At least 1 year in a related field and 3 years using electronic design software and hardware.
- Basic math skills.
- Experience in graphic design, layout, typesetting, and typography.
- Knowledge of computer maintenance and software installation.
- Proficiency in InDesign (preferred), QuarkXpress, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Light work (lifting up to 25 pounds).
- Eye/hand coordination, visual concentration, and reading/writing/math skills.
- Noisy environment and collaborative work setting.
- Work location may change as needed.

- Experience working with diverse backgrounds.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent.
- Portfolio showcasing conceptual, color, typography, and layout skills (3-5 projects).
