Various Local (Travel Required) Overview: We are seeking a skilled Civil/Structural Design Drafter to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on the design and drafting of power plant and general structures. The successful candidate will develop detailed structural drawings based on field notes, sketches, and engineer concepts. A strong understanding of structural steel terminology, layouts, platforms, stairs, roof framing, steel bracing, and the AISC Structural Book is essential. In addition, the role requires knowledge of concrete layout and rebar detailing to create accurate drawings for slabs, foundations, and equipment pads. Key Responsibilities: Design & Drafting: Develop and assist with design packages for generating facilities in the structural and civil domains. Create detailed structural drawings from field visits, sketches, and engineer concepts. Draft connection and bracing details for steel structures and layout concrete structures, including reinforcement details. Collaboration: Partner with structural/civil team members and engineers to refine designs and ensure accuracy. Work closely with the Structural Engineer to transform conceptual ideas into precise drawings. Assist in documenting design standards and procedures within the division. Project Involvement: Participate in project evaluations, surveys, investigations, and estimates. Manage work order requests, material requests, and related project documents. Liaise with outside agencies, manufacturers, and vendors regarding project specifics. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using the latest version of Bentley Systems MicroStation Connect. Familiarity with the AISC Structural Book to determine structural member dimensions and weights. Additional Duties: Conduct field visits to capture design requirements. Adhere to safety and quality standards on all projects. Be prepared for regular travel to various generating sites. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Degree is not required; candidates with a 2-year AA or equivalent in designer drafting are encouraged to apply. 6+ years of experience preferred in structural design drafting. Must have demonstrable structural design experience. Technical Skills: Expertise in structural steel design and detailing. Ability to accurately layout concrete structures, including floor/slab, foundation, and rebar reinforcement details. Familiarity with power generation processes and plant equipment is a plus. Licensing & Certifications: Must hold a valid driver’s license. Smith test certification is required. Personal Attributes: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality.
