About the Organisation
Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community-controlled health service, founded in 1986, providing advocacy, resource support, and clinical services across 6 remote Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley region.
KAMS has a history of delivering high-quality, accessible primary health care and leading innovation in health information management and evidence-based practices.
The Kimberley region is in northern Western Australia, covering about 421,000 km², with three main towns: Broome, Derby, and Kununurra. The population is approximately 37,000, with access primarily via dirt roads, air, or sea.
About the Opportunity
KAMS seeks a Kimberley Foot Initiative Health Promotion Officer to join their multidisciplinary team in Broome, WA, on a full-time fixed-term basis (6 months). The role involves working with health care staff and communities to develop, implement, evaluate, and document diabetic foot health promotion activities. The position will be based in Broome but will require travel throughout the Kimberley region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Consulting with communities and member services to understand their needs.
- Participating in planning, session development, and resource creation.
- Maintaining effective liaison with community members and health service providers.
- Delivering culturally appropriate health promotion programs on diabetic foot health.
- Participating in program evaluation and reporting to meet funding KPIs.
A current manual driver’s license with the ability to drive a 4WD and travel by small aircraft is required. Prior experience working with Aboriginal communities or organizations is highly regarded.
