Job Description
Are you an experienced digital storyteller who thrives on building vibrant online communities and growing social followings through strategic planning? The Indiana University Foundation (IUF) is seeking a dynamic Social Media Specialist to lead efforts in advancing the mission of IUF and the Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA) through strategic content, meaningful engagement, and creative campaigns. You’ll develop compelling social media experiences that foster connection, inspire pride, and motivate philanthropic action among alumni, donors, and friends of IU.
In this newly created role, you will own social media strategy by designing engaging campaigns, creating high-quality content, and collaborating with internal and campus partners to elevate the IU brand. You will manage platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, aiming to increase awareness, boost event attendance, and enhance engagement. Staying updated on industry and social trends, optimizing campaigns for performance, and providing reports to inform future strategies will be key responsibilities.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing and media strategies.
- Experience with metrics and results-driven optimization.
- Excellent copywriting and editing skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a drive to exceed objectives.
- Knowledge of publishing cycles and content channels.
- Ability to communicate channel success and opportunities clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Understanding of contemporary culture and leading content platforms.
- Knowledge of SEO and web traffic analytics.
- Experience with graphic design, photo editing, and publishing is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- At least 4 years of social media and community management experience, including content creation and community engagement.
- Minimum of 2 years of paid advertising experience.
Additional Information
Work samples demonstrating your content creation experience are required for the interview. This position is based in Bloomington, Indiana, with a hybrid schedule requiring three days in the office per week. The salary range is $64,000 to $68,000 annually.
